Atchar is already a staple on the Botswana table. This one is made with morula, the country’s own indigenous fruit, which gives it a tang and a fruitiness you will not find in the imported jars. Divine Morula was started by Mme Matsetse Matilda Mpai, a home economics teacher who believed morula deserved to be the taste of Botswana. Every season the company works with communities who collect morula and mmilo fruit, stockpiling the pulp so the flavours can be produced year round. That arrangement puts money directly into rural hands and gives the fruit a value it would not otherwise have. Spoon it alongside pap and stew, into a bunny chow, over grilled meat, or straight onto a plate of rice. Made in Botswana by Divine Morula.
